In their previous matchup, the Saints and Rams combined for 80 points in a shootout. The Saints appeared to take advantage of the Michael Thomas-Marcus Peters matchup, but as we wrote back in November, the Saints actually had more success getting Thomas matched up in 1-on-1 situations in zone coverage. With Aqib Talib back in the fold, we would not be surprised to see the Rams play more man coverage. We might see lots of 2-man to allow Peters and Talib to feel comfortable jamming Thomas and other Saints receivers at the line.

On the other side of the ball, the Rams will want to make sure the game doesn’t get away from them early. That way, they can stick with their rushing attack. As well as Jared Goff has played this season, this offense runs through Todd Gurley and L.A.’s ground game. The Rams will need to keep the score close so they can run their entire offense.
